England's Bowling Consultant Southee Unsure on Ashes Participation
The bowler's last Test match for New Zealand was against England in the final month of 2024.
England's fast-bowling advisor Tim Southee is currently evaluating the extent of his role will be during the upcoming Ashes series in the host nation.
The ex- New Zealand pace bowler is expected to be present for the opening match due to his involvement in the ILT20 tournament, which starts on December 2 in the United Arab Emirates.
The 36-year-old, aged 36, took up a role as England's pace bowling advisor in the warmer months after taking 391 scalps in 107 Test matches for the Kiwis.
Speaking as England's team for the first of three T20 matches against New Zealand was named, he stated of his participation: "We are still evaluating the situation at the moment.
"We'll see what happens over the coming days."
English bowling legend Stuart Broad had declared the Australian team as their "worst team since 2010", but the consultant was in no uncertainty over what to expect during the contest, which begins on November 21.
"I don't think there's ever a bad Australian cricket team," Southee remarked.
"The team's attention is firmly on our own objectives. I think the caliber of [England's] team that's heading out to Australia is brilliant.
"It should be an absolute cracker, the Ashes. Not only [are|do] English and Australian people looking forward to it, I think the entire cricketing community is."
However, before England head to the city of Perth for the first Ashes match, they take on New Zealand in the city of Christchurch on this Saturday.
